When Maddy and Dylan first came to us with their vision, they painted a picture of elegance, sophistication, and a touch of nostalgia. They dreamed of a wedding that felt like stepping into a black-and-white film—timeless, dramatic, and utterly romantic. Inspired by Old Hollywood glamour, they envisioned a sleek black-and-white color palette, candlelit ambiance, and lush floral installations that felt both grand and ethereal at the Weller's wedding venue in Saline, Michigan.

The Florals: Classic Yet Contemporary
To bring this vision to life, we focused on two key florals: Playa Blanca roses and cloud-like clusters of baby’s breath. Playa Blanca roses, with their pure white petals and soft, ruffled edges, exude a refined, classic beauty. They were the perfect choice for achieving the crisp white contrast against sleek black details. Baby’s breath, often underestimated, became the star of the show—when used en masse, it created a dreamy, frothy effect that added texture and softness to the overall design.

Repurposing Florals: Maximizing Beauty
To make the most of the floral investment, we strategically repurposed elements throughout the day. Florals from the ceremony created pieces to frame the bar, the dessert table, and the entrance escort card table. You would never have known that the same flowers could show up two times in the same day!

The Final Look: A Floral Designer’s Perspective
As a floral designer, there are moments when you step back and truly appreciate the artistry of a design coming to life. This wedding was one of those moments. The interplay of crisp white florals against the moody accents, the softness of the baby’s breath balancing the sleek elegance of the décor—it was the perfect blend of drama and romance. Seeing the couple’s faces light up as they walked into their reception space made every intricate detail worth it.
For couples dreaming of a modern take on Old Hollywood glamour, this wedding was proof that florals can be both timeless and transformative. If you’re envisioning a wedding that feels like a scene from a classic film, let’s bring it to life together.
